If you want to add some elegance to your patio, installing patio pavers is the way to go. Not only are they easy to install, but they’re also durable and weather-proof. To successfully install your patio pavers, here’s what you need to know.

You Need to Create a Sturdy Base for Your Patio Pavers

When you install patio pavers, you will need to make sure that the area is secure. To do that, you should have a sturdy base. With concrete patio pavers, you will need to pour a concrete slab. You can do this by spreading the concrete and then stabbing the concrete with a trowel. After doing that, you should then allow it to set for about a day before installing the pavers.

You Need to Level the Pavers

After you’ve poured the slab, you’ll need to level the pavers. You can do this by using a spirit level. You can use the trowel or a taut string line.

For the string line, you should make a string line that’s perpendicular to the patio edge. Then you should use a line level and a straightedge to make sure that you have a perfectly horizontal line. This will allow you to align your patio pavers. Using a spirit level, you should then use a pencil to mark the high spots. You can use a chisel to cut away the high spots before you put the patio pavers down.

You Should Always Lay Patio Pavers in a Pattern

When you put down the patio pavers, you should put them down in a pattern. You can use several different kinds of patterns. For example, you can use a pattern like marble or basket weave. If you use a pattern that’s different from your patio’s flooring, you should use an even number of patio pavers. For example, if you have a 144″ x 144″ patio, you should use 16 patio pavers. Then you should alternate them in the pattern.

You Need to Utilize Edging

When you use patio pavers, you should always use edging. Edging is basically the border or the addition that you’ll use to surround the perimeter of your patio. It will seal off your patio, and it will also add a decorative touch.

To install edging, you should use a strong adhesive. You can use a trowel to ensure that the adhesive is spread evenly. You should also make sure that it’s not too thick or too thin. You should also ensure that the edging is totally covered with adhesive.

Besides using edging, you can also install a barrier to help prevent water from getting into your patio.

You Need to Seal in the Joints

Another thing that you should always do is seal the joints. When you seal the joints, you are basically creating a waterproof barrier that will prevent water from getting inside. For your patio, you should use non-sanded grout. You can also use a trowel to spread the grout. You can also use a wet sponge to remove the excess grout.

Once you’ve sealed the joints, you should allow the grout to dry. You don’t need to wait for a longer time. However, you should wait for it to dry before walking on the patio pavers. If it’s not allowed to dry, there’s a chance that the water will seep through.
